The Vocation Society of St Joseph

The Vocation Society of St.Joseph held their Cashel Provincial Congress on Saturday 5th September at the South Court Hotel Raheen Limerick.
A report by our Caherdavin members is attached.

The Vocation Society of St.Joseph held their Cashel Provincial Congress on Saturday 5th September at the South Court Hotel Raheen Limerick. Theme of the Congress was “Mary, Mother of the Church”. Both the National President, Marian Fennely and the Provincial President Redempta Furney of our Society were present.
Caherdavin Branch members joined with the various branches of the Cashel Diocese and guest speakers amounting to 52 in total.  Fr. Tim Collins was the Celebrant of the Eucharist. He gave the keynote address which was inspiring. He also gave the credit to our Blessed Mother Mary for his ability to follow his vocation to become a priest.
Sr.Mary Sheila Maksim OP who is one of the Domican sisters in Limerick provided some historical basis from Scripture for the title for Mary, Mother of The Church and it’s meaning for Vocations. She spoke of her work as Vocations Director for the Limerick Diocese. She asked for prayers for an Inter-Diocesan Group of young men discerning the Priesthood, The Timothy Group.

We finished by praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction.
We also enjoyed a good meal and refreshments which added to the pleasure and social enjoyment of the day.
