Feast of St Ita, the second patron Saint of our Diocese, is celebrated on Monday January 15. She was born in Waterford in 475 AD & died in Killeedy Co Limerick on January 15 570 AD
Legend has it that Ita was lead to Killeedy by three heavenly lights. The first was at the top of the Galtee mountains, the second on the Mullaghareirk mountains and the third at Cluain Creadhail. Her sister Fiona also went to Killeedy with her and became a member of the community.
Christian Unity week begins on Thursday January 18. The chosen theme this year is ‘You shall love the Lord your God… and your neighbour as yourself’ (Lk 10:27).
